Whether you are a seasoned board member, new to the nonprofit sector, or a leader ready to serve, this in-person workshop equips attendees with practical knowledge of the essential functions of a Board of Directors. In addition to understanding a board member's responsibilities, attendees will gain valuable insights into building effective relationships within the organization and be given the tools needed to conduct an initial review of a Board of Directors.
Topics discussed in the workshop include:
- The roles and responsibilities of board members, including legal obligations
- Guidance for incorporating a board members’ responsibilities into the onboarding process
- Developing a constructive partnership between the board chair and executive leader
- Support to evaluate the composition of an organization's Board of Directors
Attendees will receive a 20-page handout with workshop content and links to resources.

Tess holds a master’s in public administration, with a focus on nonprofits, from the University of Wyoming and has served as executive director, director of development, and board member in the nonprofit sector. As the Wyoming Nonprofit Network’s Director of Learning and Development, Tess is committed to supporting organizations across the state to reach their full potential.
