Deputy Executive Director - Wyoming Humanities Council, Laramie or Statewide
Wyoming Humanities Council, DBA Wyoming Humanities (WYH), is an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization and our state’s affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), a federal agency created in 1965. The NEH has affiliates—known as humanities councils—that promote the public humanities in all 50 states and 5 jurisdictions. WYH was the first state humanities council, launching in 1970. Our funding comes from the NEH and the State of Wyoming, as well as private sources including foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual donations. We manage an annual budget of about $1.2 million and are a staff of five with offices in Laramie on the university campus and Jackson in the Center for the Arts. The Deputy Director position is part of WYH leadership, including the board of directors, the director of operations (DO), and executive director (ED), and as such is vital to the realization of our vision and desired impacts described in the WYH Strategic Plan. This key position assumes leadership responsibilities for the ED in her absence and speaks on behalf of the organization as needed.
